Design:
I think everyone has come to recognize Don’t Trip trucks as very unique truck that can be setup to do about anything. The Don’t Trip Shrooms with the adjustable plates look awfully bulky and high on most setups, but that just due the adjustable plate simply does take up a lot of space. However, the design still looks very sleek and the shape of the Don’t Trip hanger is very clean.
The Shroom is a RKP truck on some steroids or shrooms… It features a very small, open bushing seat, an insert for bushings or sphericals, adjustable hanger and baseplate. So this truck has a lot going on with it, but it still keeps the simplicity of RKP.

Review of the Geometry:
imageI’ve have become a very big fan of rake, but no matter what trucks I am riding now my Don’t Trip Shrooms are still a ton of fun even though they rakeless. Due to the small, open bushing seat, the Shrooms have a very natural lean and combined with its rakeless design its lean becomes this consistent smooth flow through the entire turn.

The benefit of this truck is the added ability to play with its center. With the insert and open bushing seat a lot of the center is created with the insert. By making the insert softer or harder you can effectively create the perfect center for yourself. I personally like having a spherical bearing inserted in front with a harder insert core in the back. The spherical bearing creates this consistent, almost mechanical, dive but is restricted a tad due to the spherical bearings limits of turning. While the back is more dead with a hard insert bushing. This kind of setup is more designed for splits and going really fast. It works well for me, but not for other. It something you will have to experiment with. Honestly, this truck is all about experimenting so be prepared for that if you get a set.

Finally the adjustable hangers and baseplates. I have an older set of Shrooms so the hangers only have 10mm to play with, but the newer hangers allow you to change even more. This truck make really good use of the linear turn, by having small hangers and big splits. I have mine setup for Maryhill and garage races in mind. The smaller hanger offer obvious grip and the massive split creates a car like turn into corners. However, if you don’t like that you can mix it up and try all sorts of combos.
Review of the Ride:
Like I mentioned earlier I have this board setup to grip everything and never slide. I use this setup for four purposes:
  1. Butt-board follow cam
  2. Fun, fast grip runs
  3. Garage races
  4. LDP/Campus deck
It works well for all four activities because of the combination of the Shroom’s features. The small hanger and massive splits create exceptional grip; while the open bushing seat, rakeless design and insert options allow me to create the center and consistent linear dive I want.
However, it doesn’t come without some problems. The trucks are obviously heavier than your standard truck, you get kingpin scrape when your wheels get small enough, they create a higher ride height and take some time to dial in.
Overall, these trucks are highly functional and very customizable, with a very unique linear dive that can only be found in the Don’t Trip geometry. I’d recommend it for those people who love garage racing or do a lot of grip runs with minimal slides.
Pros: Customize everything, inserts, adjustable hanger/baseplate, open bushing seat, hard to wheelbite
Cons: Heavy, bulky, have to carry an allen key to adjust the baseplates, get kingpin scrape
